Covid-19 Updates – Shortlanesend Village Hall

Shortlanesend Village Hall The hall has been deep cleaned throughout and completely redecorated. At present Government Guidance is unclear on Village Halls.

Whilst Community Centres can re-open from 4th July Village Halls have not been specifically mentioned. We are implementing a programme of social distancing for when the hall does re-open and unfortunately at this time that only allows for twelve people in the hall at any one time.

However, at present we can’t even allow this as the guidance says no more than two households indoors at any one time. Going forward we hope this will be lifted and we can open to 12. At present no sports, keep fit or close contact booking can be taken. Once the hall re-opens there will be new procedures such as a one way system in and out using the fire doors on the side of the building to enter and the front doors as the exit.

Cleaning will take place after every hire session. Users will need to complete their own risk assessment and this will be held by the council. The council will make ad hoc checks to ensure the premises is being used correctly.

Users will be asked to clean the toilet after every use. Users will also be asked to keep a register of every person present at the hall so that the Government’s Track and Trace System can access this information.

A new system will be introduced to maintain distance whilst entering the building. The Council has leased a Commercial Dishwasher and all crockery and cutlery must be washed in this. Hopefully we can update you further on re-opening the hall soon.
